BOOK #1- Understanding Snakes of the Greater Durban Area
This year, together with the eThekwini Municipality, we put together a layman’s guide to the snakes of the Greater Durban Area. It has been beautifully designed by Artworks (www.artworks.co.za) We are hoping this book will help people to learn that we can co-exist with snakes in a more peaceful manner. The title says it all really!
The good news, is that it’s free! We are in the process of handing them out at schools and libraries etc. We’re launching a Zulu version soon too, which I’m hugely excited! This will be distributed in rural areas where this type of information is desperately needed!
It contains general information, such as why snakes are important in our environment, why they visit our homes, why we shouldn’t kill them, what to do if we see one, and what to do in the event of a person or pet being bitten or spat at. Then there are profiles of each of the snake species occuring in the Greater Durban Area too!

BOOK #2- Life of a Snake Rescuer
Right at the end of 2018, after almost three years in the making, I finally received boxes of my book from the printers. What an exciting time!
‘Life Of A Snake Rescuer’ is a biography-styled book, all about my most thrilling, exciting, hilarious and dangerous rescue calls which I’ve been on! I write in detail about coming face to face with Black Mambas in all kinds of situations, getting spat at by cobras, going into hospital after being bitten, jumping on crocodiles, and more!
I have tried to make it as educational, entertaining and as thrilling as possible.
The 288 page book also has sixteen colour pages at the back, which contain photos from some of the rescues, as well as profiles of the snake species mentioned.
The book was selling for R250. However, I am needing to raise funds for the snake season ahead, and so I have dropped the price to R180.
